About Us

UMO is a stealth-mode FinTech venture aiming to evolve the way people experience money by building a unified, AI-powered, yet deeply human modern money platform across fiat, crypto, and investments - subject to regulatory approvals. The platform is being designed to break down traditional barriers to money across access, assets, and experience, enabling simpler, more adaptive ways for people to interact with financial services. We are currently developing our MVP and navigating licensing requirements, with a multidisciplinary team of 100+ people representing 20+ nationalities. With our headquarters in the UAE and offices in Portugal and Ukraine, we are united behind a shared ambition and a relentless focus on serving our customers.

About this role

We are looking for an engineer who treats software testing as a craft and cares deeply about how our users experience financial stability and security. In this role, you will have complete autonomy to shape our quality architecture by focusing entirely on end-to-end integration across our platform, while actively collaborating with our developers rather than micro-managing them. We believe in clear ownership: you will build the guardrails and tooling that help our team move forward safely, while our developers retain full ownership over their own unit and component tests.

You'll take ownership of:

  • Building, maintaining, and scaling comprehensive automated end-to-end (E2E) test suites that ensure a seamless and robust integration across our web, mobile, and API layers.
  • Supporting our development team with the infrastructure, tools, and testing processes they need to comfortably own and execute their own unit and component testing layers.
  • Mapping out, maintaining, and executing thoughtful test plans for our entire ecosystem, ensuring we catch edge cases before they affect our users.
  • Running rigorous functional, regression, integration, and exploratory tests across REST, GraphQL, and gRPC APIs to safeguard sensitive financial data.
  • Keeping backend automated test suites stable and highly reliable to confidently accelerate our delivery cycles.
  • Partnering directly with engineering, product, and DevOps teams to align on product context, ensuring quality is built into the feature from day one.
  • Identifying, mapping, and tracking software defects clearly, fostering open communication to resolve issues swiftly across teams.
  • Baking automated test execution directly into our CI/CD pipelines to support a steady, confident continuous delivery flow.
  • Contributing to architectural and test strategy discussions, offering constructive code and test design reviews to keep our engineering standards high.
  • Refining our overall QA methodology, taking ownership of test data management, and monitoring health metrics across the application.
  • Keeping a close eye on emerging tools, testing patterns, and fintech regulations to ensure our architecture remains secure, compliant, and highly resilient.

About you:

  • You have a deep understanding of software quality assurance, built over an intentional career path (typically requiring at least 5+ years of hands-on manual and automated testing experience).
  • You value clear engineering methodologies, possessing a firm grasp of test design techniques and modern quality assurance patterns.
  • You feel completely at home testing complex APIs—with solid, proven exposure to REST environments, and ideally some familiarity with GraphQL or gRPC setups.
  • You enjoy building and extending automated test frameworks, ensuring they are scalable and easy for the team to use.
  • You are comfortable writing code or scripting in at least one modern language, showing a strong preference for TypeScript, though solid experience with JavaScript or Python works well too.
  • You have practical experience with test automation tooling such as Cucumber, Playwright, Cypress, or Postman.
  • You understand deployment workflows and are familiar with integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or GitLab CI.
  • You bring a highly analytical mindset to the table, focusing naturally on data accuracy and system reliability because you care about the business impact of your work.
  • You speak and write fluent English, allowing you to articulate technical concepts, create clear documentation, and coordinate easily across international teams.

Can get you a few bonus points:

  • You have previously tested native mobile applications on both Android and iOS platforms.
  • You possess a foundational understanding of fintech systems, such as payment gateways, banking APIs, or data compliance frameworks.
  • You have tinkered with performance, security, or load testing concepts and tools.
  • You are familiar with cloud infrastructure environments like AWS, GCP, or Azure.

The UMO Standard:

  • Dynamic Work Environment: Vibrant offices and strong local teams across Lisbon, Dubai, Kyiv, and Lviv — with openness to remote for the right fit.
  • Rest & Recovery: 24 days of annual leave, dedicated paid sick leave, and observance of Public Holidays to keep you at your best.
  • Recharge Week: After your first year with us, enjoy two consecutive 4-day work weeks annually — a built-in reset to help you sustain peak performance for the long run.
  • Full Setup: Top-of-the-line hardware and a home office stipend so you can do your best work anywhere.
  • Growth Ecosystem: A dedicated learning budget and a clear, accelerated path toward executive-level leadership within the UMO ecosystem.
  • Impact & Ownership: Your work directly shapes the product and company direction — not just executes it.
