UMO is a stealth-mode FinTech venture aiming to evolve the way people experience money by building a unified, AI-powered, yet deeply human modern money platform across fiat, crypto, and investments - subject to regulatory approvals. The platform is being designed to break down traditional barriers to money across access, assets, and experience, enabling simpler, more adaptive ways for people to interact with financial services. We are currently developing our MVP and navigating licensing requirements, with a multidisciplinary team of 100+ people representing 20+ nationalities. About this role

As a part of our team, you'll help us shape a platform that works for One — a business owner, an artist, a freelancer.

You will lead our Platform squad — the team every other squad builds on. You'll own production services of your own, and you'll build the machinery the rest of engineering runs on: SDLC and developer tooling, process automation, our workflow engine (Temporal), and our AI-assisted development practices. Success in this role is measured twice: by what your squad ships, and by how much faster every other squad moves because of it.

You'll take ownership of:

• Squad Leadership & Execution: Lead, guide, and grow a high-performing squad of backend engineers. As Tech Lead you own outcomes end-to-end, including dependencies on other teams — success means features are live in production, not just tasks closed. You act as the technical reference point for other teams, remaining deeply hands-on by modeling AI-augmented development workflows and shipping production code every week. Your squad also builds for and advises the other squads — internal customers are customers.
• Backend Systems in Go and TypeScript: Architect, build, and operate production backend services and internal platform services in Go and TypeScript, including durable workflows on Temporal, with strict standards for reliability, fault tolerance, and auditability.
• Platform & Developer Enablement: Own the engineering machinery: developer tooling, CI/CD and environment automation, infrastructure as code (Terraform, Helm, GitOps), observability and delivery metrics, and the golden paths other squads follow.
• Architecture & Technical Debt: Drive technical planning, system refactoring, and code reviews, ensuring solutions balance delivery speed, long-term maintainability, and robust test coverage.
• Compliance & Security Engineering: Translate complex regulatory and audit mandates (DORA, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, GDPR) into clean, secure technical implementations, enforcing OWASP standards, IAM access controls, and immutable audit trails.
• Delivery & Ecosystem Alignment: Partner closely with Engineering Management, Product Leads, QA, and DevOps to plan and decompose work into thin end-to-end increments, make cross-team dependencies explicit and track them to closure, manage technical trade-offs, and ensure smooth release readiness across cloud infrastructure.
  
  

About you:

• Engineering Leadership & Depth: You are a senior engineer (5+ yrs) with real experience leading an engineering team, bringing strong technical gravitas to guide architectural decisions and elevate your team's craft.
• Go + TypeScript Depth: Deep production experience in Go and solid professional TypeScript/Node.js (or the reverse) — comfortable working across both, and credible reviewing either.
• Platform Mindset: You've built tooling, platforms, or infrastructure that other engineers depend on, and you measure your success by their velocity. You're comfortable switching contexts: production feature work, internal tooling, and advising other teams in the same week.
• Workflow Engine Experience: Experience with durable workflow engines (Temporal or similar).
• Regulated Financial Experience: You bring practical experience working inside regulated fintech, banking, or digital asset environments, with a clear understanding of transaction risk, auditability, and regulatory boundaries.
• Cloud & Microservices Resilience: You have proven experience designing and scaling fault-tolerant microservices on cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure) alongside container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
• AI-Native Modeling: You use AI development assistants daily and you raise the bar for others — defining and spreading AI-assisted engineering practices across squads.
• Transparent & Supportive Leadership: You communicate openly and prioritize mutual team respect and knowledge sharing.
• Linguistic Fluency: You speak and write English fluently to confidently communicate technical architectures and drive alignment across global teams.
