UMO is a stealth-mode FinTech venture aiming to evolve the way people experience money by building a unified, AI-powered, yet deeply human modern money platform across fiat, crypto, and investments - subject to regulatory approvals. About the Role

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and grow a team of software engineers (30+ engineers) to deliver high-quality, secure, and compliant solutions in a regulated fintech environment.

You will play a key role in shaping engineering culture, driving delivery excellence, and ensuring that innovation is balanced with governance and risk management.


Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular 1:1s, mentoring, and coaching sessions.
  • Facilitate sprint ceremonies and ensure Definition of Ready / Done compliance.
  • Support hiring pipelines and candidate interviews.
  • Track delivery progress and report on metrics to the CTO.
  • Ensure alignment with IT controls and compliance standards.


Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and coach up to 30+ software engineers, fostering professional growth and a culture of accountability.
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, and performance management processes.
  • Promote continuous learning, compliance awareness, and best engineering practices.

Delivery & Execution

  • Ensure timely delivery of features and solutions aligned with product roadmaps and regulatory deadlines.
  • Partner with Product Managers to prioritize effectively and balance innovation with compliance obligations.
  • Remove impediments within and across teams, ensuring smooth collaboration.

Technical & Compliance Guidance

  • Provide technical direction and architectural coaching where needed.
  • Embed security-by-design and compliance (PCI DSS, GDPR, DORA) into engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with Governance, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to standards.

Operational Excellence & Risk Management

  • Implement and monitor engineering KPIs (e.g., DORA metrics, service reliability, compliance indicators).
  • Oversee incident response processes and run blameless postmortems.
  • Contribute to risk assessments, audits, and business continuity planning.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Act as a bridge between engineering, product, compliance, and executive stakeholders (CTO, CISO, PPMO).
  • Provide transparent reporting on progress, risks, and incidents.
  • Promote cross-team collaboration and knowledge-sharing


Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or a senior-level leader with 5+ years, leading and mentoring teams;
  • Solid experience in a regulated FinTech, Banking, or Crypto environment with a strong understanding of the associated security and operational risks;
  • Mandatory expertise in implementing and enforcing compliance
  • standards in engineering practices: PCI DSS, GDPR, DORA;
  • Strong background in Agile/Scrum methodologies, including facilitating sprint ceremonies and driving process improvements to ensure delivery excellence;
  • Expertise in Microservices and Distributed Architecture; Containerization and Orchestration; Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC);
  • Familiarity with Data Warehouse (DWH) concepts and integrating with data pipelines for reporting and analytics;
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills for acting as a liaison between engineering, product, compliance, and executive stakeholders;
  • Fluent in English with excellent documentation and cross-team coordination skills
